Madagascar Betania

On the west coast of Madagascar lies the town of Morondava. Nearby is the famous “Avenue of the Baobabs” and one day’s drive away is Tsingy Natural Park. South of Morondava is a small original fishing village “Betania”.

The village is only accessible by foot (at low tide) or by boat. The fishing boats, a canoe with one or two floats, can be seen going out to sea to the horizon. At sunset the fishing boats come ashore. The fish is traded directly on the beach. What struck us most was the enormous hospitality of the people and the pleasure with which the daily tasks were done. And that in one of the poorest countries in the world.

In the school we were immediately invited and there was even singing for us!

What a special experience to walk around here. Of course I made a panorama of the village and it can be ordered as a kitchen splashback.

“Madagascar Beach”splashback can be ordered here.

“Betania”splashback can be ordered here!
